Induction Electric Motor
In 1883 the first induction electric motor was built by Nikola Tesla. It began with just an idea when Nikola first discovered the idea of the rotating magnetic field in 1882. Tesla believed that Thomas Edison’s inventions built with a direct current were not very efficient. Tesla improved by using a rotating magnetic field to power his machine and it evidently changed the world right before the turn of the century. This machine was and is still used for things like household items such as in a fridge, ceiling fan, dishwasher, and washing machines. Telegraph
The telegraph was the first form of long distance communication. It was invented by Samuel Soemmering in 1809. This device could send messages to people who were two thousand feet away. However, they could not actually speak. They used morse code and were able to get messages judging on how much smoke was released from the telegraph. Since sending letters took weeks even months to send, this was a big stepping stone for technology. Air Plane The Wright brothers introduced the first successful airplane during the Industrial Revolution. They were preoccupied with the idea of flight. The brothers eventually made what was once just an unrealistic idea come to life. They built the first airplane in the early 1900’s. They came up with a three-axis control that let the pilot steer the plane. After the Wright brothers, inventors continued to improve their design until they created a safe aircraft for air travel. |
